Well,  I'd just like to semi-formally put this blog to bed.  Clearly I have stopped writing some time ago, and I'll be damned if anyone even checks it anymore.  So, I'd just like to say there's no need to check this but every few months - if that - in the instance something so profound happens that I can't help myself but to write about it.  I would like to say that I plan on hosting a dinner party in the month of August, probably late August before everyone is back to the grind.  I'll tell you all the details as I come up with them.

Till then,

Todd

Tomorrow I have two damn tests and one of them is very important.  It sucks and I wish I was headed home on the train from it all.  But, at least I have things to look forward to like going to the grocery, possibly getting Part II (if there ends up being a Part II) of Tim's gift and cracking open a bottle of wine and doing some laundry.  I should've posted many times lately, and I wish I had about St. Patrick's Day and my birthday and The Prodigy, but these things won't soon be forgotten, so just saying it should do the trick.

Next week should be excellent.  No tests for once, Buckethead on Thursday with Colin, The Strokes and Eagles of Death Metal on Friday with Andy, James, and Colin, and Christ will be rising once again, just in time for Easter, featuring new equipment and fresh ideas.  A great way to start my Spring.

Not a bad week. I worked as before mentioned and made nearly $500 in the process. Most evenings I admittedly did very little (sorry to the girls for never calling), but quite frankly I just didn't feel like it for the most part. There's something so nice about getting home and not leaving after work. I mainly drank beer and played mariokart with Colin. Oh, and we watched Wallace & Gromit too.

Last night karaoke fell through again. Piet was pretty upset, and Colin's bailing was the icing on the cake. He snapped, hung up on Colin, and said he isn't going to talk to him till June (he'll be in D.C.). He isn't actually that pissed anymore, but at the time he was upset. So, I had two beers with him, split my flask of captain morgans and then we went to a local pub for another beer (just so the night wasn't a total bust). It was fun, we had some good talks about life and future family lifes. Then I came home and Colin and I did what I mentioned before. He got high, I got drunk, and we played mariokart and listened to music. It was quite fun.

Unfortunately, somewhere in all that drinking I got screwed because I woke up with a terrible hangover and that just doesn't happen to me usually. I blame the captain morgans. Regardless, that is certainly something NOT to do when you then have to go read pages upon pages of 8-point font financials. My head was swimming all over the place and I had those damn hangover jitters I get. Lesson learned.

So, all in all its been a good week and tomorrow should round it out nicely. The lovely Catherine gets home, and I will be partying on the town earlier with Colin and his family. The plan is to take part in the Irish festivities which should be interesting. That said, I need to go eat some fried rice. I leave with a quote by Jesse 'the devil' Hughes in regards to the upcoming Eagles of Death Metal album:

"We didn't come here to save whales. We came here to make a little money — and save whales, too, if we can," he said, which explains how the band's songs have ended up in Budweiser and Payless ads. "This ain't no Bible study. It's rock and roll. And [when Death by Sexy hits stores], I am expecting riches beyond my wildest dreams and bikini girls every night, because it's sex rock and I made it for ladies everywhere."

What a week, so unpleasant. Like many I have several exams, three to be exact, and they're all quite annoying. Work at my new job has been good so far. I've been doing more interesting things there now that I'm getting in the swing of it, and they gave me a key to the office - symbolizing my acceptance. I'm especially looking forward to spring break now. As it turns out, one of the full-time girls there (Andrea) is currently picking up some courses to get the credits she needs for the CPA. She has spring break the same week as myself and is actually going somewhere, so the office is tight on manpower (there are only 7 people there, myself included).

Well, I told my boss that I could work that week full-time, to which he was very happy. AND, as a result of Andrea being gone, I will be working on their BIG case doing the expert-witness report with Michael and the one and only Prof. Werner - whom I currently have for Advanced CPA Topics. It's going to be so sweet. I've mentioned him before, and he's a great, super smart guy. It'll be an excellent experience for me. Not to mention I'll make like $400 that week. Today however was not that fun, actually it was rather frustrating because I had to re-do some work I have already done due to errors. BUT, they were errors that could've been avoided had I been instructed better, so I don't blame myself entirely. It was definitely frustrating though, I find the over-achieving perfectionist in me really coming out doing this work. But, as I sat there finishing a report with no one else left in the office, My Name Is Mud by Primus came on the radio which finished my evening quite nicely, I cranked that baby.

Other than that, all has been well (and eventful) despite my lack of posts. The duck dinner, Valentines Ball, times at Piet's, times elsewhere. Laziness gets the best of me unfortunately. Oh, but Catherine and I had a very nice dinner with my Grammie this Sunday. We picked her up and ate at Wildfire at the Glen. We got filets, they were delicious, and talked. Then we went back to her house and talked a little while longer. She's fun to talk to. It's weird how I never thought that until a year or two ago, I guess I was never exposed to her enough - or just wasn't an adult yet. I think we bonded when I drove her home with her broken arm, as she vomited into a garbage bag all the way, but I suppose that's a story for another day.
Well, I'm capping off another night of studying - this time for my second listening quiz - and it is now bedtime. Colin had a neck spasm today and is feeling bad. He can't move very much.

So...

Classes seem like they might not be too bad this semester.  I initially thought it was going to be hell, but it seems ok.  No crazy workloads for any classes yet.  Maybe my opinion will change come test time.  Anyhow, the past week or two has been interesting.  Probably the most interesting thing is that I quit Borders.  Well, I put my two weeks in that is.  Most people upon finding out responded in the same way, "congratulations, but we hate you."  The poor cafe, that place is running rough.  Oh well, I got my internship finally so I must follow my mission.  I am now officially an 'independent contractor' with a private forensic accounting firm.  It's quite small and everyone is very friendly.  It's exactly what I wanted.  Basically I'm doing what I imagined an accounting intern would be doing, absolute grunt work.  However, everyone in the office is doing the same thing so it's not so bad.  We have to look through 120,000 files for this case, one file at a time, to decide if each one is worth looking at.  So I spent my first 2 days doing that for 3 or 4 hours after class.  Not exactly exciting, but I'm just so glad to be in the field.  And today was sweet because right when I walked in, Mr. Pakter said "do you want tickets to the Blackhawks game tonight?" to which I said "uh, i don't know" but then called Catherine and since she showed plenty of enthusiasim, I took the tickets and we went to the game.  It was fun, the seats weren't bad and they won.  Not a bad little fringe for the second day on the job.

Last week I also had the first poker night with Josh, Greg, and Sean O.  It was fun, although we all felt a little sorry for Sean.  We held it at Greg's place, and Sean drove Josh and I.  So we all got pretty damn drunk, except for Sean of course since he was driving.  The funny thing is that he is the one who knows the game well, was playing with a couple of drunk idiots, and he ended up losing the most.  We only played for like $7, but still.  Anyhow, it was a fun night and I learned several other work secrets I had not known.  We plan on having the next one at my place, so that should be cool.

Well, I want to go to bed, because tomorrow is another long day of school.  I'm glad Katie is having a party, that should be nice.  Next Friday is the Duck Dinner, which I believe everyone has been informed of.  I need to figure out the dessert on it though, because I don't have enough dishes to make creme brulee for everyone.  I think I might do 2 desserts, and people will have to choose/share.  Does that seem ok?  I think that should work.
